Lore

Why it matters

As a rare card from the Fallout set, Mystic Forge allows players to cast colorless spells directly from the top of their library, effectively turning the deck into an extended hand. Provenance

Where it came from

Mystic Forge was originally released as part of the Magic: The Gathering Core Set 2020, designed to provide a powerful engine for artifact-focused decks by allowing players to look at and cast artifacts from the top of their library. It quickly became a staple in eternal formats for its ability to generate card advantage, embodying the sophisticated, clockwork aesthetic typical of high-fantasy constructs.

The version from the Magic: The Gathering Fallout set, released in 2024 as part of a collaboration with the post-apocalyptic video game franchise, reimagines the card within the visual language of the wasteland. The artwork reflects the scavenged, utilitarian design philosophy of the Fallout universe, adapting the original card's function to fit the technological themes of the game's setting.
