Provenance

Where it came from

Mystic Forge was originally introduced in the 2019 Core Set 2020, designed to bolster artifact-centric strategies in various formats. The card reflects the mechanical identity of high-mana colorless artifacts, allowing players to cast artifact spells from the top of their library to generate significant late-game momentum.

The version from The Brothers' War Retro Artifacts series features a specialized frame treatment that honors the aesthetic of early Magic: The Gathering cards. This design was created to evoke nostalgia for long-time players, utilizing the classic card border and layout that defined the game's initial decade. It was received as a popular aesthetic reprint, merging modern power levels with a vintage visual identity.
