Where it came from
Natural Order was originally printed in the 1997 Visions expansion, designed by Richard Garfield and the Wizards of the Coast team to introduce a powerful green-aligned creature tutor effect. The card allows a player to sacrifice a green creature to search their library for any green creature card and put it onto the battlefield, a mechanic that quickly became a hallmark of high-power green decks in formats like Legacy and Cube.
The version from Eternal Masters, released in 2016, features new artwork by Magali Villeneuve. This set was curated as a reprint-focused product aimed at supporting eternal formats, and Villeneuve’s rendition was commissioned to provide a fresh, modern aesthetic to a card that had become a staple of competitive play. The illustration reflects the thematic essence of the spell by capturing the raw, elemental surge of nature as it manifests a powerful entity.
