Where it came from
Nissa's Revelation was released as part of the Magic Origins expansion in 2015, serving as a marquee card that highlighted the origin story of the planeswalker Nissa Revane. The card was designed to mechanically reflect Nissa’s connection to the land and her role as a powerful green-aligned spellcaster, allowing players to draw cards and gain life based on the highest power among creatures they control. This specific version, identified by collector number 191s, is a promotional variant that features unique gold-stamped set symbols and alternate treatment distinct from the standard card found in booster packs.
The artwork for the card was created by artist Izzy, who was tasked with visualizing Nissa’s awakening and her profound communion with the mana of Zendikar. The design seeks to emphasize the scale of Nissa's power, capturing a moment of mystical clarity and growth. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players focusing on green-based ramp or midrange strategies in the Standard format, as it provided a substantial late-game advantage that rewarded players for fielding larger creatures.
