Norn's Decree // Norn's Decree

Norn's Decree was released in 2023 as part of the Art Series for the Magic: The Gathering set Phyrexia: All Will Be One. These cards were specifically produced as promotional inserts found in set booster packs, designed to highlight the intricate illustrations commissioned for the expansion. The set centers on the plane of New Phyrexia and its leader, Elesh Norn, reflecting a aesthetic defined by porcelain-like aesthetics, religious fervor, and mechanical horror.

The artwork for this piece was created by artist Livia Prima, who has contributed numerous illustrations to the game. Her depiction of the decree emphasizes the oppressive, unified, and cult-like nature of the Phyrexian regime. By presenting the art on a card-sized format without the standard gameplay frame, Wizards of the Coast intended for these items to function primarily as collectibles for players and enthusiasts who appreciate the visual world-building involved in the development of the trading card game.
