Seachrome Coast // Seachrome Coast

The Seachrome Coast card from the Phyrexia: All Will Be One Art Series was released in 2023 as part of Wizards of the Coast's initiative to highlight the illustrative talent behind the Magic: The Gathering card game. This specific series featured borderless, oversized art cards that showcased the aesthetic direction of the Phyrexia expansion, a set centered on the return of the Phyrexians and the corruption of the Mirrodin plane. These art cards were distributed as promotional inclusions in set booster packs, intended for fans who wished to appreciate the world-building and visual artistry independent of the game mechanics.

The artwork for this piece was commissioned to evoke the eerie yet serene coastal landscape of the Mirrodin plane, which had been transformed by the influence of the New Phyrexian machine orthodoxy. The illustration emphasizes the contrast between organic geography and the metallic, artificial structures that have begun to colonize the horizon. These art cards are highly valued among collectors for their high-quality print finish and the inclusion of an artist's signature on the reverse side, serving as a distinct record of the collaborative effort between the art directors at Wizards of the Coast and the commissioned fantasy illustrators.
