Provenance

Where it came from

Oath of Nissa was originally released in the 2016 expansion Oath of the Gatewatch, designed to support the set's central theme of planeswalker alliances. The card was illustrated by Wesley Burt, who focused on capturing the essence of the character Nissa Revane and her commitment to protecting the plane of Zendikar. It became a staple in various formats due to its ability to smooth out early-game mana and card selection, reflecting Nissa’s deep connection to nature and leyline magic.

The inclusion of this card in The List—a curated selection of reprints inserted into Set Boosters—highlights its enduring relevance in the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem. By surfacing cards from past sets with their original collector numbers and expansion symbols intact, The List provides collectors a way to acquire significant pieces of the game's history. This specific version retains the visual identity of the original Oath of the Gatewatch printing while serving as a bridge between the game's evolving mechanical landscape and its past narratives.
