Orim, Samite Healer

Orim, Samite Healer was released in 1997 as part of the Tempest expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The set introduced the concept of the Weatherlight Saga, a sprawling multi-year narrative arc, and this card depicts one of its key protagonists, Orim, who served as the healer aboard the skyship Weatherlight. The card was designed to reflect her role as a combat medic, utilizing the white mana color identity centered on protection and damage prevention.

The artwork for the card was created by illustrator Randy Elliott, who captured Orim in a moment of tranquil focus amidst the conflict-heavy aesthetic of the Tempest set. His style contributed to the distinct high-fantasy visual identity established during this era of the game. Upon its release, the card became a staple for players looking to mitigate damage in aggressive environments, serving as a functional piece of cardboard history that cemented Orim's status as a central character in the game's evolving lore.
