Pacifism

Pacifism originated in the Mirage expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 1996, quickly becoming a staple white enchantment for its simple, effective utility in neutralizing creature threats. Its presence in the Ninth Edition core set, released in 2005, marked a continuation of its role as a fundamental tool for white-aligned players who favor control and defensive board states. By the time of the Ninth Edition release, the card had been established as a classic white staple that exemplified the color's philosophy of avoiding direct destruction in favor of containment.

The Ninth Edition illustration was crafted by artist Christopher Rush, whose work is iconic within the early history of the game. His rendition of Pacifism emphasizes a serene, almost celestial depiction of constraint, moving away from more aggressive artistic interpretations found in other sets.
