Where it came from
Parallax Wave was originally released in the 2000 Nemesis expansion for Magic: The Gathering, designed by Mark Rosewater. It was engineered as a powerful enchantment that allowed players to temporarily exile creatures from the battlefield, introducing a clever 'fading' mechanic that balanced its high utility with a limited lifespan. The card quickly became a staple in control decks for its ability to disrupt an opponent's board presence during critical turns.
This specific version originates from the 2000 World Championship Decks, a product line featuring exact replicas of the decks used by finalists at the Magic World Championships. The 'tvdl17' collector number denotes its inclusion in the deck piloted by Tom van de Logt. These decks were printed with non-standard gold borders and unique back designs to distinguish them from tournament-legal cards, serving primarily as mementos of professional play rather than competitive game pieces.
