Where it came from
Parallel Lives was originally released in the 2011 set Innistrad, designed as a rare enchantment that doubles the number of tokens a player creates. It emerged during a period when Wizards of the Coast was emphasizing graveyard mechanics and tribal synergies, quickly becoming a staple in Commander formats due to its powerful, albeit expensive, effect on board state.
The Enchanting Tales version, released in 2023 for Wilds of Eldraine, features a reimagined aesthetic designed to fit the set's storybook, fairy-tale theme. The card showcases the signature 'anime' borderless treatment, utilizing stylized, whimsical artwork that departs from the grim, gothic aesthetic of the original Innistrad release to align with the vibrant, folkloric atmosphere of the Eldraine plane.
