Where it came from
The Unfinity Pin Collection was released in 2022 as part of the fifth un-set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. These physical enamel pins were designed to represent the whimsical and space-themed aesthetic of the expansion, which explored a retro-futuristic carnival setting. Produced by Wizards of the Coast, the collection was intended to provide tangible collectibles that echoed the set's satirical and lighthearted approach to the established game mechanics.
The designs for these pins feature vibrant, high-contrast imagery reflective of the set's illustrative style, which leans heavily into silver-age science fiction and mid-century modern graphic design. The art direction aimed to bridge the gap between card art and wearable accessories, marking a strategic effort by the publisher to expand their merchandise footprint beyond traditional card stock. Collectors generally received these items through specialized product bundles and promotional events, where they were noted for their durability and commitment to the thematic visual language of the Unfinity universe.
