What it does
Look at the top four cards of your library. You may put a land card from among them onto the battlefield tapped. If you don't, put a card from among them into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

Where it came from
Planar Genesis was released in 2024 as part of the Modern Horizons 3 expansion for Magic: The Gathering. This set was designed specifically for the Modern format, introducing powerful, high-complexity cards that bypass the usual standard-set rotation constraints. The card functions as a sorcery that allows players to look at the top of their library and put a land or creature card into their hand, a mechanic intended to provide card selection and ramp consistency for green-aligned decks.
The card’s illustration was created by artist Livia Prima, who has contributed extensively to the Magic: The Gathering aesthetic. Her design depicts a sprawling, ethereal landscape meant to evoke the raw, creative energy of the multiverse's birth. Upon release, the card was widely received by competitive players as a reliable utility spell, valued for its efficiency in smoothing out early-game draws and ensuring players hit their necessary land drops or key creatures.
