Provenance

Where it came from

Port Town was originally printed in the Shadows over Innistrad set in 2016, designed as part of a cycle of allied-color lands that enter the battlefield tapped unless the player reveals a basic land type. The card features art by Adam Paquette, who was tasked with capturing the misty, coastal atmosphere of Nephalia, the maritime province of the gothic-horror world of Innistrad. The design aims to provide utility for two-color decks while reinforcing the specific environmental storytelling of the plane.

This version of the card was included in the Tales of Middle-earth Commander set in 2023. As a functional reprint, it was repurposed to fit the setting of J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium, serving as a versatile land option for decks themed around the harbor cities of Middle-earth. By maintaining the same mechanical function while transitioning the artistic context, the card allows players to build mechanically consistent decks that remain flavorful to the specific world-building of the crossover series.
