Port Town

Port Town was originally printed in the Shadows over Innistrad set for Magic: The Gathering in 2016, designed as part of a cycle of 'ally-colored' lands intended to support dual-colored decks in the Standard format. The card features a utility-focused design that rewards players for holding cards of a specific type in their hand, reflecting the gothic horror theme of the Innistrad plane where mystery and preparation are central mechanics. It was subsequently reprinted in the Warhammer 40,000 Commander deck series, specifically appearing in the Forces of the Imperium deck, to provide functional mana base support for players utilizing the blue-white color identity within the context of the Warhammer crossover.

The artwork for the original printing was created by artist Cliff Childs, who aimed to capture the fog-drenched, maritime architecture of the city of Thraben. The design intentionally evokes a sense of weary shelter, aligning with the narrative of a world under constant threat. Upon its release, the land was well-received by players for its efficiency in aggressive or tempo-oriented decks, and its inclusion in the Warhammer 40,000 Commander release served to bridge the aesthetic gap between the dark fantasy roots of the set and the industrial grimdark setting of the Warhammer universe.
