Realm-Cloaked Giant // Cast Off

Realm-Cloaked Giant, a signature card from the Throne of Eldraine set released in 2019, was designed to evoke the classic fairy-tale tropes that define the plane of Eldraine. As a creature with a built-in board wipe effect via its Adventure mechanic, Cast Off, it was crafted to provide players with a strategic tool that functions as both a board stabilizer and a late-game threat. The design philosophy centered on the intersection of Arthurian legend and high-fantasy folklore, aiming to capture the grandeur of a giant reclaiming its domain.

The artwork, illustrated by Chase Stone, depicts a towering, armored figure standing amidst a landscape that underscores the card's theme of displacement and scale. The promo version, marked by its distinct border treatment and collector number, was released as part of the set's promotional cycle to reward participants in organized play events. Upon release, it was well-received by the Magic: The Gathering community for its versatility in control archetypes and its evocative representation of the 'giant' creature type within the game's evolving mechanics.
