Where it came from
Reckoner Bankbuster originated as part of the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty set released by Wizards of the Coast in 2022. Designed as an artifact vehicle, the card represents the high-tech, cyberpunk-inspired aesthetic of the Kamigawa plane, reflecting a setting that blends traditional Japanese folklore with futuristic urban themes. Its inclusion in the promotional set served to highlight the set's unique blend of mechanics, allowing players to draw cards or create pilot tokens.
The art for this card showcases the sleek, neon-drenched industrial design characteristic of the set's vision. It was conceptualized to be a versatile utility card in competitive Magic: The Gathering play, gaining widespread attention for its efficiency and power level. Upon release, it was well-received by the player community for its strategic depth, often finding a place in various constructed formats as a reliable, colorless engine for card advantage.
