Where it came from
Reckoner Bankbuster originated as part of the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty set, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2022. This set marked a return to the plane of Kamigawa, reimagining its traditional folklore-inspired aesthetic through a high-tech, cyberpunk lens. The card was designed to function as an artifact vehicle, reflecting the set's central theme of humanity merging with machinery to navigate a neon-drenched urban environment.
The 255s collector number identifies this specific version as a promotional treatment, often utilized by Wizards of the Coast to showcase the set's unique artistic direction. Illustrators for the Neon Dynasty series were tasked with blending traditional Japanese motifs with futuristic industrial design, a goal that received considerable acclaim from the Magic: The Gathering community for its cohesive world-building and innovative mechanical design.
