Where it came from
Seam Rip is a common-rarity instant card released in the Edge of Eternities set. Designed to fit the set's thematic focus on planar instability and the fraying of reality, the card was conceptualized to provide players with a versatile tool for interacting with permanents that represent anchored or tethered magical effects. Its creation was driven by the set's mechanical demand for low-cost removal that emphasizes the visual and narrative theme of dissolving edges between worlds.
The card features an illustrative style consistent with the aesthetic direction of Edge of Eternities, which prioritizes high-contrast, ethereal imagery to convey the disruption of space-time. The artist utilized a palette of shifting purples and discordant whites to depict the act of unmaking a construct. Upon release, the card was widely received by players as a functional utility piece, praised for its clarity in design and its direct integration into the set's broader lore regarding the collapse of the multiverse.
