Where it came from
Search for Glory was released in 2021 as part of the Kaldheim set for Magic: The Gathering. This specific card, bearing the collector number 27p, is a promotional version issued through the Wizards of the Coast promo program. The set draws heavy inspiration from Norse mythology, focusing on themes of ice, snow, and legendary deeds. Mechanically, the card serves as a versatile tutor, allowing players to search their libraries for legendary permanents, snow permanents, or sagas, reinforcing the set's emphasis on heroic narratives and the harsh Scandinavian-inspired landscape of the plane.
The artwork for this card was created by illustrator Johannes Voss. His design approach for this piece emphasizes the ethereal and epic tone of Kaldheim, utilizing a sweeping, cinematic composition that captures the transition between the mortal realm and the divine. Within the competitive community, the card is recognized for its utility in Commander and other eternal formats, where its ability to find specific silver bullets has made it a reliable tool for players looking to execute complex game plans involving legendary creatures or planeswalkers.
