Where it came from
The Seven Dwarves card, appearing as collector number 819 in the Secret Lair series, was released by Wizards of the Coast as part of a specialty limited-run product. This iteration of the card utilizes the unique art style inherent to the Secret Lair initiative, which frequently commissions independent illustrators to reinterpret classic Magic: The Gathering mechanics and flavor through distinct aesthetic lenses.
The design of this specific card draws upon the whimsical and folkloric tropes established by the original card's appearance in the Throne of Eldraine expansion. By allowing players to include up to seven copies of this card in a single deck, the design leans heavily into the mechanical synergy of the 'Seven Dwarves' card type, which functions as a thematic nod to the classic fairy tale motif that served as the primary inspiration for the Eldraine plane.
