Where it came from
Sevinne, the Chronoclasm was introduced in 2019 as a legendary creature card within the Mystic Intellect deck for the Commander 2019 set. Designed by Wizards of the Coast, this card features a unique mechanics set centered around the flashback keyword, rewarding players for casting spells from their graveyard rather than their hand. The character itself is rooted in the lore of the Magic: The Gathering multiverse, depicted as a time-manipulating mage who survived a traumatic magical explosion that fractured his connection to the present.
The artwork for this specific oversized version was created by illustrator Magali Villeneuve, a prominent artist in the franchise known for her high-fantasy style and emotive character portraits. In designing Sevinne, Villeneuve aimed to visualize the concept of 'the chronoclasm' through shimmering, fractured visual effects that suggest a hero caught between temporal states. The card was well-received by the commander community for its ability to anchor graveyard-centric strategies, serving as a tactical focal point for players interested in complex spell-casting loops.
