Where it came from
Sheoldred // The True Scriptures was released as part of the Multiverse Legends bonus sheet within the March of the Machine expansion in 2023. This double-faced card depicts the Praetor Sheoldred in her final, ascended form following the Phyrexians' invasion of the multiverse. The design reflects the character's narrative evolution into a localized deity, emphasizing the thematic horror and body-horror aesthetics central to New Phyrexia's lore.
The card features an illustrative style consistent with the 'halo' foil treatment of the set, designed to evoke a sense of grandeur and dread. Artist sequence and art direction focused on the biomechanical fusion synonymous with the Praetors, utilizing a stark, dark palette to contrast with the ethereal glow of the card's frame. It was well-received by players and collectors for its high power level in competitive formats and its significant narrative weight within the conclusion of the Phyrexians' long-running story arc.
