Where it came from
Siren's Call was released in 1994 as part of the Magic: The Gathering 'Summer Magic' set, also known by collectors as 'Edgar.' This set was intended as a corrected reprint of the Revised Edition to address various printing errors and misprints, but it was largely withdrawn from distribution after an error-filled release, leading to its extreme scarcity in the secondary market.
The card features artwork by illustrator Sandra Everingham, who contributed several pieces to early Magic sets. Her work on this card depicts the mythical siren motif common to fantasy tropes, rendered in the distinct, hand-painted style characteristic of the game's initial era. The card's mechanics reflect the design philosophy of early blue-aligned spells, which focused on controlling player actions and disrupting enemy strategies.
