Sivriss, Nightmare Speaker

Sivriss, Nightmare Speaker was released in 2022 as part of the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set was designed to integrate the flavor and mechanics of the Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms campaign setting into the Commander format, which emphasizes multiplayer games and social play. Sivriss specifically represents a myconid spore servant, reflecting the set's focus on iconic creatures and characters from the tabletop roleplaying game.

The card was illustrated by Wisnu Tan, who utilized a dark, atmospheric style to capture the eerie nature of the character as a harbinger of decay. The design focuses on the 'Choose a Background' mechanic, a signature feature of the set that allows players to pair their commander with a secondary enchantment card to customize their deck's mechanical identity. Upon release, the card was well-received by players interested in graveyard-centric strategies and thematic, lore-heavy deck building.
