Provenance

Where it came from

Strider Harness was released in the 2016 Magic: The Gathering expansion Oath of the Gatewatch. The set focused on the conflict between the Multiverse's planeswalkers and the Eldrazi titan Kozilek, with the harness serving as an artifact intended to represent the practical, rugged equipment utilized by inhabitants of the plane of Zendikar to survive in a world warped by otherworldly devastation.

The card was illustrated by the artist Victor Adame Minguez. His design intent was to capture the jagged, modular aesthetic of Zendikari technology, characterized by the use of hedrons and reinforced leather bindings. Upon release, the card was viewed as a functional addition to Limited play environments, praised by players for its ability to provide creatures with a necessary boost in power and toughness during the set's mid-game exchanges.
