Sun Titan

Sun Titan was originally introduced in the Magic 2011 core set as part of a cycle of titans designed to showcase powerful, game-ending creatures for each color of mana. The card was created by Wizards of the Coast to provide a staple high-cost threat that offered immediate board presence, specifically leaning into white's mechanical identity of resurrection and utility-based reanimation. It became an instant fixture in competitive play, particularly in formats like Standard, where its ability to return permanent cards from the graveyard to the battlefield provided significant resource advantage.

The artwork for the Magic 2012 printing was illustrated by Todd Lockwood, who rendered the Titan as a formidable, glowing entity clad in gleaming armor to reflect its celestial, sun-aligned theme. Lockwood's design sought to evoke a sense of divine authority and overwhelming scale, fitting for a creature intended to dominate the late game. Upon release, the card received widespread acclaim from players for its versatility and was considered one of the most impactful cards of the era, eventually securing its place as a classic in both casual Commander formats and historical competitive cube drafts.
