Sun Titan

Sun Titan was originally introduced in the Magic: The Gathering Magic 2011 core set, designed as part of a cycle of titans that emphasized powerful, recurring battlefield effects. The card was created to provide white decks with a reliable engine for board state recovery, allowing players to return permanent cards with converted mana costs of three or less from the graveyard to the battlefield whenever it attacked or entered the battlefield. Its design by the Wizards of the Coast development team aimed to create a formidable late-game threat that rewarded players for interacting with their graveyards.

The Commander 2015 version, featuring the collector number 82, was released as part of a preconstructed deck that brought this classic titan to the popular multiplayer format. Illustrating the card, artist Todd Lockwood captured the titan’s celestial, imposing nature, emphasizing its role as a beacon of light and structure. Upon its initial release and subsequent inclusion in Commander sets, the card was widely received as a staple for white-based decks, prized for its synergy with low-cost utility permanents and its ability to maintain pressure throughout a game.
