Sunstar Chaplain

Sunstar Chaplain was released as part of the Edge of Eternities Promos, a limited series designed to showcase artwork that pushed the aesthetic boundaries of the traditional card game format. The piece was commissioned to represent the radiant, protective themes central to the set's high-fantasy narrative, specifically focusing on the intersection of celestial imagery and ecclesiastical duty. Artists tasked with these promos were encouraged to utilize vibrant palettes and intricate linework to ensure these cards stood out visually during tournament play and within high-end collections.

The card was received as a sought-after aesthetic upgrade by the competitive community, primarily valued for its distinct visual departure from the standard set printings. By utilizing a unique frame treatment that emphasized the glowing sun-motif of the Chaplain, the design team aimed to emphasize the character’s lore role as a beacon of light amidst the darkness of the overarching expansion storyline. It remains a notable example of how promotional treatments were used to elevate minor characters into iconic visual centerpieces for players and enthusiasts alike.
