Swarm of Rats

Swarm of Rats was originally introduced in the Stronghold expansion set in 1998, designed to explore mechanics surrounding creature tribal synergies and cumulative aggression. When it was reprinted for the Ninth Edition core set, which served as a bridge for players transitioning into the modern era of Magic: The Gathering, the card retained its classic identity as a common-rarity creature. Its inclusion in the core set allowed newer players to experience early gameplay concepts where board presence scaled with the number of copies played.
