Where it came from
The Sword of Wealth and Power was released as a promotional card within The Big Score set, a collection centered on high-stakes mechanics and treasure-themed artifacts. It was designed to function as a versatile equipment card, bridging the gap between resource generation and combat efficiency. The design prioritizes a balanced mana-to-utility ratio, reflecting the set's intent to reward players for investing in aggressive, wealth-oriented board states.
The artwork was commissioned to capture the opulence of the item, featuring ornate gold and jewel-encrusted detailing to emphasize its thematic identity. Upon release, the card saw immediate play in various draft environments and casual formats due to its reliable ability to buff creatures while simultaneously providing steady economic growth. It remains a recognizable staple for collectors who appreciate cards that marry flavor with consistent mechanical performance.
