Where it came from
Teferi, Who Slows the Sunset, released as part of the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt set in 2021, represents a narrative shift for the character of Teferi, a powerful chronomancer within the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. This card was designed by Wizards of the Coast as a mythic rare planeswalker, specifically intended to manipulate the board state by untapping permanents and looking at the top cards of a player's library, reflecting his ability to manipulate time to slow an opponent's momentum.
The 245s promotional variant features unique borderless alternate art by artist Magali Villeneuve. Villeneuve, a celebrated illustrator in the fantasy genre, utilized a muted, ethereal color palette to capture the gothic horror atmosphere of the Innistrad plane. Upon its release, the card was received as a versatile tool for control archetypes, with players frequently praising the aesthetic cohesion between the illustration and the somber, twilight-themed narrative of the expansion.
