Teferi's Moat

Teferi's Moat was originally released in the 1997 Legends expansion before being included as a special 'Timeshifted' card in the 2006 Time Spiral set. This particular iteration was designed to pay homage to the game's history, featuring a purple expansion symbol and a nostalgic frame that harkens back to the mid-1990s era of Magic: The Gathering. The card represents the defensive capabilities of Teferi, a central narrative figure in the Multiverse, reflecting his role as a powerful temporal mage who creates barriers to protect his interests.

The artwork for the Timeshifted version retains the original illustration by Amy Weber, whose contribution to the early game aesthetic is highly regarded by long-time collectors. Weber's work in the nineties often utilized a distinct, painterly style that helped establish the visual identity of the fantasy setting. When Wizards of the Coast selected these cards for the Timeshifted subset, they aimed to bridge the gap between veteran players who remembered the card's debut and newer participants, solidifying the item as a bridge between different eras of the game's evolution.
