Provenance

Where it came from

The Tenacious card was released as part of the Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart set in 1995. Produced by Fleer, this series was designed as an introductory game intended to simplify complex trading card mechanics for younger players. The set featured iconic characters from the Marvel Universe, emphasizing high-contrast graphic design and bold, simplified typography that reflected the aesthetic of 1990s comic book illustration.

The Jumpstart cards were illustrated by various artists working under the Fleer house style of the era, which prioritized dynamic poses and vibrant color palettes. While the set was intended to be accessible to a broader audience, it ultimately served as a niche collectible for fans of the wider Marvel trading card ecosystem. The card remains a representative artifact of the mid-nineties expansion of superhero-branded merchandise.
