The Highland Runner

The Highland Runner, cataloged as RW06b, emerged from an independent or promotional set often referred to as the Unknown Event series. These cards were typically distributed in limited, non-commercial contexts, appearing primarily at specific industry gatherings or through direct distribution channels rather than traditional retail outlets. The card represents a niche aesthetic common to late-stage collectible card design, prioritizing atmospheric, character-focused artwork that emphasizes speed and regional lore.

The design of the RW06b card reflects the distinct visual language of its unnamed illustrator, who utilized a moody, muted color palette to evoke the rugged terrain associated with the Highland Runner character. The composition focuses on movement and isolation, a stylistic choice intended to distinguish it from the more vibrant, action-oriented cards of the broader series. While it never received a wide commercial release, it remains a sought-after piece for completionists who value the elusive nature of the Unknown Event set.
