Where it came from
The Mending of Dominaria is a saga enchantment first introduced in the Dominaria expansion in 2018, later appearing in the Zendikar Rising Commander set. The card depicts a pivotal event in Magic: The Gathering lore where the planeswalker Teferi and other heroes healed the temporal rifts that threatened to destroy the world of Dominaria. It was designed to represent the restoration of the multiverse's health, translating narrative healing into a gameplay mechanic that returns lands and creatures from the graveyard to the battlefield.
The artwork for this card was created by Johannes Voss, a long-time contributor to the game known for his evocative and painterly style. His design focuses on the serene restoration of the landscape, emphasizing themes of growth and rebirth. The card was well-received by players for its thematic resonance with the history of the game and its utility in decks focused on land-based strategies or resource recursion.
