Where it came from
The Seedcore was released in 2023 as part of the Phyrexia: All Will Be One set, specifically appearing in the expansion's promotional release lineup. It represents the corrupted, metallic landscape of the plane of Phyrexia, designed to mechanically reflect the set's central theme of toxic, parasitic growth and the unification of organic life with glistening oil.
The card's artwork, illustrated by Alayna Danner, captures the eerie, biomechanical aesthetic of Phyrexian terrain. Danner utilized a stark, high-contrast palette to convey the desolate and imposing nature of the setting, a deliberate choice that resonated with players looking for thematic depth in land cards. Upon its arrival, the design was noted for its utility in decks leveraging poison counters and its distinct visual departure from traditional nature-based land illustrations.
