Thrull

The Thrull token was released in 2015 as part of the Modern Masters 2015 set, designed to provide players with a physical representation of creatures created by cards like Thrull Surgeon or various spells throughout the game's history. These tokens were included in booster packs to facilitate gameplay, replacing the need for makeshift markers or dice during matches. The set itself was curated to celebrate the history of Magic: The Gathering, featuring reprints of cards that had significantly impacted the game's competitive landscape.

The artwork for this specific token was crafted to reflect the grotesque, subservient nature of Thrulls within the game's lore. These creatures, often depicted as laboratory experiments or flesh-stitched minions, are tied closely to the Orzhov Syndicate and the darker corners of the Magic multiverse. The illustration emphasizes the unsettling, creature-based aesthetic established in earlier sets like Fallen Empires, ensuring consistency for players familiar with the game's deep narrative history.
