Time Distortion

Time Distortion was released in 2016 as part of the Planechase Anthology, a curated box set designed to revive the popular multiplayer format that allows players to traverse various planes of the multiverse. The card depicts the chaotic nature of the plane known as Equilor, a realm portrayed in Magic: The Gathering lore as one of the oldest and most decayed locations in existence. This card functions as a 'plane card,' which changes the fundamental rules of the game while players are actively traversing that specific location.

The art was provided by Igor Kieryluk, who utilized a surrealist aesthetic to capture the disorienting, gravity-defying architecture of Equilor. The design emphasizes a sense of temporal collapse, featuring distorted landscapes and floating structures that align with the card's mechanical ability to reverse the order of player turns. Within the community, the card is recognized for its ability to drastically shift the momentum of multiplayer games, forcing players to adapt their strategies to a non-linear turn structure.
