Time Warp

Time Warp was originally introduced in the Tempest expansion of 1997, designed by Mark Rosewater as a balanced riff on the game's most powerful restricted cards that grant extra turns. The design intent was to provide a high-mana cost sorcery that offered the mechanical advantage of an additional turn without the broken efficiency of the game's earliest iterations. It quickly became a staple in blue control decks due to its ability to shift the momentum of a match entirely in the caster's favor.

The 2010 printing, featured in the Magic 2010 core set, marked a notable return for the card in a modern frame. The illustration by Greg Staples offers a dark, atmospheric interpretation of time manipulation, shifting away from the more ethereal depictions of early sets toward a more visceral, cinematic style. This version was well received by players for its classic utility and solidified the card's reputation as a hallmark of blue's identity in competitive and casual Magic alike.
