Where it came from
Tivit, Seller of Secrets was originally designed for the Streets of New Capenna Commander set, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2022. The card was crafted to represent a sphinx crime lord within the art deco-inspired setting of New Capenna, a plane defined by its prohibition-era aesthetic and factional power struggles. As a legendary creature, Tivit was designed to embody the themes of political maneuvering and resource management central to the Commander format.
The illustration by artist Campbell White captures the sphinx’s role as a mysterious broker, utilizing sharp, angular lines and ornate lighting that echo the architectural style of the set. Upon its debut, the card was received as a high-impact commander due to its ability to generate significant value through the voting mechanic. Its inclusion in 'The List'—a rotating pool of cards curated by Wizards of the Coast—allows players to encounter this specific printing as a reprint within various booster pack products.
