What it does
The phases of each player's turn are reversed. (The phases are, in reverse order, ending, second main, combat, first main, and beginning.)
As long as there are more than two players in the game, the turn order is reversed.

Where it came from
Topsy Turvy was released in 2004 as part of the Unhinged set, the second silver-bordered expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Designed specifically for casual play, the Unhinged set was created by Wizards of the Coast to push the boundaries of game mechanics through humor and unconventional card interactions that would be impossible within the formal tournament rules of the game.
The card was illustrated by Matt Cavotta, who frequently contributed art to the franchise during that era. The design of Topsy Turvy leans into the 'un-set' philosophy of subverting expectations, as its text requires players to invert the standard turn structure of the game. It is recognized by collectors as a quintessential example of the set's experimental design goals and its commitment to prioritizing imaginative, chaotic gameplay experiences over competitive balance.
