Where it came from
True Conviction was originally released as a rare enchantment in the Scars of Mirrodin set in 2010, designed to capture the flavor of the Mirran faction's righteous fervor against the Phyrexian invasion. The card's mechanics, which grant double strike and lifelink to all creatures controlled by its owner, represent the overwhelming moral and combat superiority the Mirrans aimed to project during the conflict.
The Signature Spellbook: Gideon version, released in 2019, features updated art by Volkan Baga that centers on the Planeswalker Gideon Jura. This series was designed to showcase the character's signature magical repertoire, moving away from the industrial aesthetic of the original set to highlight Gideon's theme of indestructible faith and divine martial prowess within the broader Magic: The Gathering multiverse.
