What it does
At the beginning of your end step, draw a card. If you control a Demon, each opponent loses 2 life and you gain 2 life. Otherwise, you lose 2 life.
(You may cast either half. That door unlocks on the battlefield. As a sorcery, you may pay the mana cost of a locked door to unlock it.)

Where it came from
Unholy Annex // Ritual Chamber is a double-faced enchantment card introduced in the 2024 Magic: The Gathering set Duskmourn: House of Horror. The set draws heavy inspiration from 1980s and 1990s horror aesthetics, centering on a plane-wide haunted mansion. This specific card was released as a promotional variant, featuring unique artistic treatments designed to evoke the claustrophobic and supernatural atmosphere characteristic of the horror genre.
The design of the card reflects the mechanics of a 'room,' a new permanent type introduced in this set that allows players to unlock different doors for varied effects. The artwork for the promo version emphasizes the unsettling architecture of the house, intended to immerse players in the narrative of a sentient, malevolent dwelling. It was received as a flavorful addition to the set, highlighting the creative shift toward thematic, top-down design in contemporary trading card game expansions.
