Unholy Strength

Unholy Strength first appeared in the Alpha set in 1993, but the version from Summer Magic, also known as Edgar, represents one of the most storied rarities in the game's history. Produced in 1994 as a corrected print run to address the widespread errors and color imbalances found in the Revised Edition, the vast majority of the Summer Magic stock was slated for destruction due to a distributor error. A small quantity of the product escaped this fate, making the surviving cards from this set highly sought after by collectors who prize both their scarcity and the peculiar circumstances of their release.

The card features artwork by Dan Frazier, whose evocative illustrations helped define the dark, gothic aesthetic of the game's early years. His depiction of the enchantment centers on themes of corruption and empowerment, fitting perfectly within the black mana color identity. The design reflects the era's focus on simple, high-impact enchantments that forced players to make aggressive tactical choices, and while it has been reprinted many times since, the specific print quality and color saturation unique to the Summer Magic run distinguish this version from all other iterations of the card.
