Unnatural Selection

Unnatural Selection is a staple blue enchantment originally released in the 2001 Invasion expansion. Its recent inclusion as card number 38 in Mystery Booster 2 serves as a nod to the long-standing popularity of its unique ability, which allows players to manipulate creature types on the battlefield for a modest mana cost. This mechanic has historically been favored by players building tribal-focused decks, offering a versatile utility tool that fits into various casual and Commander-based strategies.

The art and design of the card reflect the thematic experimentation prevalent during the Invasion block, where Wizards of the Coast emphasized multi-color synergies and distinct creature interactions. By reprinting this card in the Mystery Booster 2 series, the developers highlighted its enduring utility as a flexible answer to complex board states. The design remains largely unchanged from its original iteration, maintaining its status as a functional classic that serves as a cornerstone for players looking to pivot their strategy based on the shifting types of their creatures.
