Unwanted Remake // Unwanted Remake

Unwanted Remake is part of the Art Series released alongside the Duskmourn: House of Horror expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2024. This set was designed to showcase the vivid, horror-inspired aesthetic of the Duskmourn plane, a world modeled after 1980s slasher films and supernatural dread. These cards serve as collectible, frame-less versions of the original game art, printed on a premium, slightly textured cardstock that highlights the intricate details and macabre atmosphere cultivated by the Wizards of the Coast art department.

The illustration for this piece was crafted by artist Caroline Gariba, whose work is characterized by dramatic lighting and a focus on unsettling character-driven narratives. In keeping with the set's thematic direction, the image captures a moment of distorted transformation, utilizing deep shadows and cold palettes to evoke the psychological horror intrinsic to the Duskmourn setting. Since its release, the card has been sought after by collectors who favor high-fidelity artistic prints over standard gameplay variants, valued primarily for its role in preserving the conceptual vision behind the house of horrors.
