Where it came from
Vorinclex, a core member of the Phyrexians known as the Praetors, appears in the March of the Machine set as a focal point of the Multiverse-spanning conflict. This card represents a double-faced transformation, illustrating the character's relentless drive to evolve and conquer, fitting the biomechanical aesthetic of New Phyrexia's metallic, flesh-warping philosophy.
The card was illustrated by Daarken, a long-time contributor to the Magic: The Gathering franchise. The design emphasizes the Praetor's predatory nature, moving from his singular, formidable presence on the front face to the encroaching, organic devastation represented on The Grand Evolution reverse. Upon its release, it was noted for its aggressive mechanics that capture the overwhelming pressure associated with the Phyrexians' invasion lore.
