Where it came from
Wedding Announcement, a rare enchantment from the Innistrad: Crimson Vow set, was released in late 2021 as part of Wizards of the Coast's return to the gothic horror-themed plane of Innistrad. The card depicts the macabre union of Olivia Voldaren and Edgar Markov, a narrative pivot point in the set's storyline that brought the vampires of the plane to the forefront of the conflict. The artwork by Johannes Voss leans into the ornate, dark romanticism characteristic of the vampire aesthetic, emphasizing the cold elegance of the wedding festivities.
The Double Feature printing, identified as collector number 312, represents a specific stylistic execution within the Innistrad: Double Feature set, which combined cards from both Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow. This version utilizes a monochromatic, silver-screen-inspired aesthetic designed to evoke the classic Universal horror films that originally inspired the setting. Released in early 2022, this stylistic choice was intended to offer a unique visual experience for collectors, focusing on high-contrast black-and-white art to highlight the intricate linework of the card's illustration.
