Provenance

Where it came from

The Wheel of Fortune card, designated as number seven in the Oversized League Prizes set, was produced as a promotional reward for participants in organized play events. These oversized cards were designed to serve as commemorative mementos for players attending tournaments, emphasizing the community-focused culture of the game during its period of expansion. By scaling up the dimensions, the organizers aimed to create a visually striking object that prioritized display and nostalgia over standard gameplay utility.

The design draws upon the classic iconography of the fortune-telling wheel, rendered with the aesthetic conventions typical of the set's era. The illustration process focused on vibrant, symbolic geometry intended to capture the whimsy associated with chance-based gaming mechanics. Upon release, the piece was received primarily by dedicated tournament attendees who valued it as a tangible token of their involvement in the competitive circuit, cementing its role as a centerpiece for enthusiasts of the game's broader lore.
